The good folks at RVA Clean Sweep could use some volunteers to help lead VCU students in a weeklong series of cleanup projects in and around the James River Park System.   As a group, we spend a lot of time on JRPS trails – this would be a great way for us to give back.  If you are free during the week and are willing to help out, you can contact me or reach out directly to Amy Robins on Meetup.com.  To make it even more worth your while, I’ll give you 3,000 CVT points (that’s the equivalent of three free hikes)!

Thanks to everyone who has written for the Reflections section on the website – who knew we had such talented writers in CVT??  I have been publishing one every Tuesday for the last few weeks, but we’re going to run out soon if we don’t get more submissions.  Tell us about your first hiking experience…or a big trip you’re planning.  Or get creative and write a poem or haiku…or maybe a dirty limerick!  🙂  Whatever it is, send it to us!

We still have some spaces available for the Kayaking with Dolphins trip in Virginia Beach on Saturday, August 12th.  Who knows, it might actually happen this time!  And don’t forget the big Labor Day weekend camping trip to Cumberland Gap!  Also, spaces for CVT Beach Week II in October are going fast, so sign up soon – it’ll be a great trip!

  1. Brian, I am willing to help man a booth, hand out water or something like that. I am no good on the trail in hot weather.

    1. That would be great! Amy can give you details on what they need. Can you get in touch with her, or would you like me to give her your email address?

  2. I would love to help…probably next week or maybe even on an on-going basis. I will try messaging her on meet up. Thanks!
