You all were dazed and confused by the White Blaze series. Now come Hiking the Blue Blazes!
There are lots of Blue Blazed trails throughout Shenandoah National Park. We will enjoy some of these treasures in the coming months. As the days get longer, we will increase the difficulty of the hikes to get you in prime shape for those trips to far and exotic places.
This “homemade” circuit will be a longer version of the Little Devils Stairs loop on HikingUpward, extended to include more blue blazes and less fire road! We’ll ascend Little Devils Stairs and hook up with the Upper Piney Branch Trail via the Pole Bridge Link Trail. Then we’ll head back via the Hull School Trail and a small portion of the Keyser Run Fire Road. Basically we’ll be exploring a large section of the Keyser Run area as shown on this map. Rough guess on the total distance is 8 to 10 miles.
The return time is approximate. If you have plans that require you to be back in Richmond at a specific time, please communicate this prior to carpooling with someone, or consider choosing a different hike.
