Located in downtown Richmond just north of Tredegar, the Virginia War Memorial was originally designed as a World War II and Korean War Memorial for Virginians who had made the ultimate sacrifice in battle. Over the years it has expanded to include Virginians killed in action in the Vietnam War, Desert Storm/Desert Shield, and the Global War on Terrorism.
