This parking area is on Route 311 in Catawba and provides access to McAfee Knob and the Appalachian Trail. McAfee Knob is extremely popular, and the parking lot frequently fills up. Often people park on Old Catawba Road just south of the parking lot. Do not park on Route 311. The trailhead is on the opposite side of the road – cross very carefully!
