Dutch Gap Conservation Area
Our August James River hike takes place at the Dutch Gap Conservation Area in Chesterfield. Dutch Gap features a very easy circuit trail around a James River tidal lagoon. You can opt to do one lap around the trail (4 miles) or two laps (around 7.5 miles). Bring your cameras – it is common to spot eagles, herons, hawks, deer, snakes, and other cuddly critters in this area.
Kayakers: You may want to pack a lunch and get in some paddle time after the hike. There is a public boat landing nearby.
