Attention new members: This series is for you!
If you have joined CVT but are not feeling quite ready to jump into a hardcore mountain hike, you aren’t alone. Maybe you feel like you need some preliminary training, or maybe you want to get to know us before you commit to an all-day or multi day trip.
I will be hosting an 8 week beginner to mountain hike program, consisting of hikes every weekend (and some weeknights) of increasing difficulty in order to get you conditioned and ready for a summer full of hiking!! The first event will be a social\meet and greet. We’ll have a chance to talk about your hiking history, and what hiking goals you may have down the road. If you are new to hiking we can also talk about equipment, safety and any other topics you may have questions about. This will be followed a few days later by our first hike. This will be a relatively short, flat hike somewhere in the Richmond area and will give us an opportunity to follow up on any questions or concerns from our initial meeting. Although the series is designed to build on the previous weeks’ activity, you are welcome to join us for as many or as few as you would like. The final hike in the series will be a moderate mountain hike. Come on out and make some new hiking buddies!!
Active members–you are welcome to join too!! It’s been a long winter and many of us have fallen victim to the shorter daytime hours, colder temps and of course, the holidays. If your conditioning needs some work (like mine does), feel free to come join the fun.
For the initial meeting, we will meet at Libby Hill Park near the fountain, where we can hopefully catch a sunset. Pack a picnic and a chair – we’ll eat while we get to know each other.
