The Old Rag Mountain hike in the Shenandoah National Park is one of the most popular hikes in the mid-Atlantic region. With many spectacular panoramic views, and one of the most challenging rock scrambles in the park, this circuit hike is a favorite of many hikers.

The rock scramble is challenging, being both steep, and requiring climbing through cracks in the rock. Since we will be hiking on a weekend, the best time to arrive is by 7 a.m. before the crowds. We will hike the circuit in clockwise direction as described on the Hiking Upward website.

Optional stop for meal on the way back if there is interest.
