Breaks Interstate Park
Trailblazers, for several years we have placed an emphasis on visiting all of Virginia’s spectacular State Parks. The ones we have not visited yet are few and far between. I am very excited to knock Breaks Interstate Park off the list over an extended Memorial Day weekend. We will spend 3 nights at the Breaks campground on sites that include electricity, I think this is a first for CVT. The $45.00 fee pays for your 3 nights of camping. Please note we will be leaving Richmond on Friday morning.
Breaks park has a lot to offer. In addition to over 25 miles of hiking trails in the park, the park has a 2,000′ zipline spanning the Russell Fork River Gorge and has 3 stops. It also offers 12 miles of mountain biking trails, rock climbing, guided horseback trail rides, and canoe\paddleboat\hydrobike rentals and fishing(on Laurel Lake in the park). If that wasn’t enough, there is also a water park within the park called Splash, as well as a gospel music festival in the park on Memorial Day weekend. Wow, I’m exhausted already!
Participants can choose to do as much or as little as they want. We will have a meeting prior to the trip to discuss carpooling, meals, activities, etc.
