***Second group added due to popular demand!!!***

This is about a 5 mile float down a very scenic river.  You can see turtles, herons, kingfishers and bald eagles.  I’ve also seen a coyote and otters while on this river.  The river has some rapids sometimes reaching class 2 near the Greenwood Church bridge.  If the water is low there may be times that you scrape bottom. So if you have a hand crafted heirloom kayak this trip isn’t for you.  There are several places to stop and swim or enjoy a snack.

It will be a shuttle trip where we put in at Rt 33 and take out at Rt 54 near Ashland.  I’ll arrange logistics as the time approaches.

I kayak this river 10 to 15 times a year and always see something new.

Hello, I will try this for the third time. We will be meeting at the boat launch. It is located 7 miles west of the I295/route 33 interchange on Staples Mill Road/Route 33. The parking lot is on the right roust before you cross the bridge over the South Anna River. It is just after the Federal Club, which I believe is a golf course. If you see Scotchtown road you went to far.

The weather channel there is a 30/40% chance of scrattered thunderstorms. Please check your emails Saturday morning for any updates or a cancellation.

We may need to shuttle a couple of cars which should take more than 30 minutes. More than likely will not need to do this. Just in case, please bring your extra racks and tie downs if you have any.

If you need to reach me, my telephone number is 804-651-3233

Such a fun kayak trip and in our backyard, we need this on our list at least twice a year. River was a perfect height for one and two class rapids. Loved it!!!
