Much more than a cemetery, Hollywood is a living story in stone, iron, and landscape. With stunning views, it overlooks the James River and serves as the final resting place of two American presidents, six Virginia governors, two Supreme Court justices, 22 Confederate generals, and thousands of Confederate soldiers. Hollywood’s paths wind through 135 acres of valleys, over hills, and beneath stately trees of natural beauty and tranquility.
Although this will be the day after Halloween, this will not be a “ghost tour” – just an informal, unguided, slow-paced walk through Oregon Hill and the cemetery. You will have plenty of time to take pictures, read the engravings, and enjoy the scenery.

- Hike Distance: 2-3 miles
- Elevation Change: Minimal
- Hike Pace: Leisurely, with stops at points of interest
- Terrain: City sidewalks, paved paths

- Recommended hiking gear: Broken in hiking shoes/boots, water, rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, basic first aid

GUIDELINES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING IN THE AGE OF COVID
- Bring hand sanitizer and a mask or face covering. Use when necessary.
- Avoid physical contact with other participants. Do not share food or hiking gear.
- Maintain a safe distance from others when hiking or congregating before hikes.
- Avoid use of public restrooms and facilities when possible.
- Stay home if you are sick, symptomatic, or have been exposed to others in either category.
- Until further notice, CVT will not be organizing any carpools.

- Meet in the Belle Isle Parking Lot off Tredegar Street. Allow extra time for parking.
