Each year, tourists flock to Virginia for its sandy beaches, majestic mountains, and historical landmarks…but outdoorsy types like us know our greatest treasure is actually our vast collection of rocky, picturesque gaps! With this in mind, CVT is proud to present a yearlong tour of the Great Gaps of Virginia!
This time we’ll be traveling to Northern Virginia to explore Ashby Gap, an out and back hike with two side loops. Highlights include small mountain streams, spring wildflowers, Myron Glaser Cabin, and the Rod Hollow Shelter. This is the best time of year to do this hike, as wildflowers will be out and the streams will be at their fullest.
The return time is approximate. If you have plans that require you to be back in Richmond at a specific time, please communicate this prior to carpooling with someone, or consider choosing a different hike.
