I have modified this hike and the next one to reflect changes due to road closure on the last hike.
This 13 mile challenging hike will finish the White Blaze Trail Daze series. Sadly we will say good bye to the Appalachian trail in Shenandoah National Park. There is 1300 feet of ascent and 2000 feet of descent on this hike. This will be a shuttle hike and will require you to walk a sustained 2 mph for the full 8 miles. We will leave the meeting place at 8:00 am. We will leave cars at the Sloan Creek Parking in Front Royal and begin the hike from the Gravel Springs Hut parking (MP17.5)
The return time is approximate. If you have plans that require you to be back in Richmond at a specific time, please communicate this prior to carpooling with someone, or consider choosing a different hike.
Optional stop for dinner where we can celebrate the last 121 miles of sore muscles and tired feet.
