Howdy everybody. So looking forward to this…the Asylum has been on my list for a long time!!!
Been working an itinerary. There is some good stuff to see\do in the area.
Friday: head out and stop for lunch in the town of Helvetia…this is a tiny town that embraces it’s Swiss heritage and has a Swiss\German restaurant that may be worth checking out. Friday afternoon\evening we’ll hang around the resort and have dinner together.
Saturday: ASYLUM DAY. In the morning we can hike, kayak or even do a Segway tour at the State Park Resort after breakfast. Then it’s off to the main event. We’ll check out the Fall Festival on the grounds, do a daytime tour(they offer several different types) or 2 and then have dinner someplace nearby. After, we can do the Haunted House as well as a flashlight tour.
Sunday: Hiking etc. there are 16 miles of trails in and around the park, and there are also other parks and historic sites in the area…also there is a Museum of American glass in the town of Weston that may be worth checking out.
Monday: Check out and head back to RVA. We can stop for a hike on the way home if there is interest and will probably grab lunch on the road as well.
Trying to plan it so those coming late\leaving early don’t miss the Asylum stuff.
Also, the hotel has an indoor\outdoor heated pool.

There are also some wineries, etc in the vicinity.
We will officially use Joe’s place as our Carpool location. Westshire Drive in W. Henrico. I’ll send exact address out pretrip.

I know that Karen, Joe and ML won’t be carpooling as they are coming up later on Friday. I am going to make a reservation(if they take them) for Hutte House in Helvetia, WV. If you don’t want to be included in that let me know-thanks!!

So, who is planning on driving this weekend?

      • Brian 3 weeks ago

I can drive. I think Steve is riding with me, and I can take two more. Happy to ride as well.

  11. Marybeth 3 weeks ago

    I will, can take 3 plus me…

  12. LindseyBorgsmiller 3 weeks ago

Is there a shotgun I can claim? Or I’ll drive too! πŸ™‚

Should be just 7 of us meeting at Joe’s — Dee is driving separately and will meet us at the restaurant in Helvetia.

  14. Jamie K. 3 weeks ago

My preference is to either drive or ride shotgun

  15. JoeGiasullo 3 weeks ago

If I don’t see you guys tomorrow morning please don’t park in the driveway or block the driveway or mailbox. Thanks.
