Fairy Stone State Park
Join us for a fabulous extended weekend of fun and adventure at beautiful Fairy Stone State Park in southwest Virginia!
The park has a large lake and around 15 miles of multipurpose trails. There are lots of great hiking options outside the park as well – McAfee Knob, Pilot Mountain State Park (NC), and Hanging Rock State Park (NC) are within an hour or so of Fairy Stone. Cascade Falls near Blacksburg is about 90 minutes away, and Mt. Rogers is about two hours away.
When we’re done playing outside, we can relax in the well equipped lodge right inside the park. The lodge has five bedrooms, three of which have bunk beds (four beds per room) and two of which have queen beds. We will try to work it so couples get the queen bedrooms and singles get the bunks, but that will depend on the number of couples/singles who sign up. Linens are provided (one set per bed). “In-season” rates apply for this trip, so the rate is a higher than our originally planned New Year’s Eve trip. Also, because we had trouble filling up the NYE trip, I am reducing the RSVP limit, which also brings up the cost. The cost per person comes to about $85 (Trail Bucks) for three nights of lodging for 12 people. Refunds are NOT possible unless someone else takes your place.
We paid the pet fee, so well behaved dogs are welcome, but please let me know if you plan to bring a dog before signing up.
I can bring some cards and board games. Feel free to bring some of your own. I wouldn’t count on TV or wifi service inside the park.
We will leave Richmond at around noon on Friday, 10/18. Carpooling arrangements to be determined depending on who signs up. If needed, we can have a pre-trip planning meeting later in the year to work out details.
