Join us for a five-day(3 nights camping, 1 night hotel) trip at one of the most spectacular natural habitats in the Northern Hemisphere…Cumberland Island in Georgia!

Itinerary:
Day 1 – Travel to St. Mary’s, GA which is where the ferry dock is. We will arrive, explore the town and the visitor center, and spend the night. I have reserved a room at the Riverview Hotel which has 2 beds, if someone wants to share with me. It is across the street from the ferry docks where we will depart in the morning. Apparently the hotel does book up, so I would go ahead and reserve your room ASAP.

Day 2 – Ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore. We will disembark at the Sea Camp dock, which is approximately a half mile away from the Sea Camp campground.  This is where we will be staying in the group campsite. The campsite has a fire ring, a metal food cage (raccoons), access to drinking water, a boardwalk to the beach, showers (cold), and restrooms. You can bring your own bike, or rent one while you are on the island-all trails are sand. Unfortunately they do not allow kayaks on the ferry, so we cannot bring any over with us (unless someone wants to paddle over).

We will camp for three nights on the island. On our last morning we will get the ferry (10:15) back to the mainland and head home.

Cost includes three nights of camping at Sea Camp group campsite on the island. Participants will need to make hotel arrangements in St. Marys for Saturday March 3rd. I booked a room at the Riverview Hotel which is across from the ferry terminal, and it was $108.  It looks like some rooms have double beds, so you may be able to find someone to split the room cost with.  You will also need to book your spot on the Cumberland Island Ferry departing Sunday, March 4th, at 9am and returning on Wednesday, March 7th, at 10:15am. The total cost for the ferry trip is approx. $30.00.

We will have a meeting prior to the trip.
