Time to get in the holiday spirit with a time honored tradition…the 8th Annual CVT Tacky Lights Walk! Richmond offers lots of ways to tour the tackiest holiday houses from motorized vehicles…but the best way to see the tacky lights is up close and personal. So bring your camera and a thermos full o’ hot cocoa and join us!!!
Our route begins in front of New York Deli in Carytown and continues east across the Boulevard and through the side streets that make up the Fan. The exact route varies depending on where the lights are – you never know what surprises you’ll find around each corner! The walk includes a stop in the lobby of the magnificent Jefferson Hotel to view their enormous Christmas tree.
And then the main attraction: The James Center. You won’t be disappointed!
After a short break to enjoy the decorations, we’ll head back to Carytown taking a slightly different route including Monument Avenue.
The walk is entirely on city streets, and there is little elevation change, but don’t be deceived. It’s a long walk, and concrete is hard stuff! Wear comfortable, broken-in walking shoes and bring a snack and beverage of your choice. Flashlights are nice to have, but are not required, as there are street lights throughout the walk.
Saturday nights in Carytown can be busy, so PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR PARKING. On-street parking is available on and around Cary St. There is a parking deck behind New York Deli and a large surface lot west of Sheppard St. behind Plan 9.
