April 23, 2024

Many thanks to those of you who donated or came out on Saturday, February 24th, in support of Shiver in the River 2018!  And special thanks to Trailblazer Keith for his hard work in fundraising for this event!  Team CVT cleaned up lots of trash around the river and raised almost $2,000 for Keep Virginia Beautiful.

This Saturday, Kim and I will be volunteering with Blue Sky Fund, a nonprofit organization that “provides transformational experiences for urban youth through outdoor education.”  We’re very excited about our upcoming orienteering adventure!

There are still spaces available for Trailblazer Zi’s presentation all about her recent trip to India next Wednesday, March 14th, at REI.  In order to attend, register for the Indian Golden Circle presentation at REI, and also RSVP here so we know to look for you.

Later this month, CVT will be participating at REI’s Get Ready to Backpack event on Saturday, March 24th.  We’ll be greeting attendees, handing out free goodies (see below), and giving a presentation on the topic of CVT’s Top Ten Hidden Gems.  The presentation begins at 2:30pm.  We could use another volunteer or two to help us set up and man the table – let us know if you’re available to help out!  You can earn big CVT points!

I recently ordered some CVT pens and water bottles from Trailblazer Ed at The Carpenter Group.  The shipment arrived last week, and they look great!  We’ll be handing these out at the REI events and at future hikes – get yours while they last!

Trailblazer Derek has offered to lead some make-up hikes for those of you who missed sections of Leigh’s “White Blaze Trail Daze” hike series.  Part 1 has already been posted – look for more coming soon.  Thanks Derek for stepping up!

And yes, “Sunset Hikes” will be returning soon as well – stay tuned!
